How To Use Instagram Reels As A Health Coach + Best Practices

instagram reels for health coaches

If you’ve opened up the Instagram app in the last few months, you’ve undoubtedly been inundated with Reels - short, fun, entertaining 15-30 second videos, often set to music. They’re similar to TikTok, but built right into the Instagram app.

Reels are one of Instagram’s newest features and are majorly trending - which means making your own Reels can help you connect with and grow your following even faster.

How To Use Reels As A Health Coach

Sure TikToks and Reels became popular because of people showing off their dance moves, but you can share whatever you want on there - like recipes, daily practices, or tips - no dance moves required.

No doubt the most viral reels are the ones that make us laugh, smile, think differently, feel better about ourselves, or generally keep us entertained.

Here are some ideas of things you can do on Reels as a Health Coach:

  • demo a recipe - and tell them to head to your website for the full recipe

  • talk about your favorite food/wellness products

  • show what you eat in a day

  • give your audience bite-size health and wellness tips. One is enough! You only have 30 seconds max, so it’s better to explain one fully, then speed through 10.

  • a day in the life of a health coach

  • a behind the scenes look of working with you

  • something funny and related to your niche

Reels are meant to be lighthearted and real, so don’t obsess over making them perfect. Show your quirky side, which helps your audience get to know you better.

How to use social media to grow health coaching business

Instagram Reels Best Practices

  • Aim to Edutain: Educate and entertain your audience (“edutain”) so they see that working with you is simple, fun, and enjoyable. Sometimes this health and wellness stuff can get overwhelming or feel restrictive, so show them it doesn’t have to be that way.

  • Keep It Simple: When it comes to Reels no one is expecting a professional production. Keep it simple by recording with your phone and editing it using the effects and features available in the Reels editor.

  • Make It Relatable: Create content that your followers can resonate with or see themselves in. Even better? Make them laugh. This gives your audience a chance to see how approachable you are as a health coach and connect with you better.

  • Create Recreatable Content: Create content that is easy for your followers to recreate and put their own spin on, whether it’s easy recipes, challenges, or DIYs. This increases the likelihood of your posts turning into trends in the wellness space.

  • Use Relevant Hashtags: Adding relevant hashtags in your Reel captions is key to making your Reels more easily discoverable, and upping the chances they will show up on the Explore page of your ideal client.
